Jennifer D. Nicholson, MBA, CFP, is President and Chief Investment Officer of Nicholson Meyer Capital Management. With over 30 years of experience in the trust and investment fields, she leads a team that manages investment portfolios for many types of clients, both personal and institutional, covering a variety of types of accounts, including individual, IRA, trust and 401(k). The team also provides financial consulting and planning services. She is Chair of the NMCM Investment Committee that sets investment strategy for the firm.

A trailblazer in the world of investments, she co-founded Conus and Nicholson, Inc. in 1988, becoming one of the first women to establish an independent investment advisory firm in Kansas City. In 1998, she became sole owner of the firm and renamed it Nicholson Capital Management, Inc. As President of NMCM, Jennifer possesses a wide education, an intuitive viewpoint and decades of experience in all market environments.

Jennifer began her career in 1972 as the first woman management trainee at First National Bank of Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri and later progressed to Vice President and Group Leader in the Trust Division. During that time, she served on the Board of Directors of the Citizens Bank of Grant City, Missouri from 1973 to 1978. She revised and implemented new loan policies and investment policies at the $19 million rural bank.

In 1982, she accepted a position at First Continental Bank and Trust as the Vice President and Head of Trust Department. She also established a free-lance consulting service, providing financial planning packages and analysis to CPAs and other financial planners. In 1984, she became Vice President at Centerre Bank of Kansas City, NA.

Jennifer is the first woman to receive a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northwest Missouri State University, graduating in 1971. At NWMSU, she was a member of Honor Society, the Dean’s List and received the prestigious Wall Street Journal Award. In 1978, she received her MBA at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and in 1980, she was licensed as a Certified Financial Planner, having attended the program at Rockhurst University. She continues to hold the license to this day.

Jennifer is a stellar participant in the growing community around her and has served on numerous boards over the years. She previously served on the Board of the Northwest Missouri State University Foundation. Jennifer was honored as one of the 2010 Women Who Mean Business sponsored by the Kansas City Business Journal.
